Barack Obama and John McCain are two great candidates for the 2008 election, however there is only so much they can do for your economy. We know that they can influence the US economy, however when it comes to your economy, the ball is in your court. You see the world has changed drastically from 1990 to 2000, and now over the past 8 years it has even evolved even more. If you take a look at 1990 and see who is on top in the market place, you will find that many of them were no longer doing business, or barely hanging on by 2000. For example see if you can remember these businesses when they were on top!
Hills, Ames, Zayers, Montgomery Wards, Sears, Hess, John Wannamakers, Woolworth, Correstates Bank, All First Bank, Kmart, and Starter. If you are 18 or older you can remember when at least one or more of these businesses were on top.
The sad truth is that age of mergers and acquisition was on the rise and most of these companies have either merged to gain strength in the market place, or were acquired by a larger company, or even just bankrupt and could no longer compete.
After careful review it is evident that when the world was changing to an age of technology, those who chose not to change with this technological age when they still could are out of businesses. Literally millions of businesses are out of business that were in business between 1990 and 2000.
When there was a opportunity for theses companies to change, they didn’t act on it because they were in fact already on top. The world they were on top in no longer exist and now in 2008, companies and individuals are making the same mistake.
This election year I believe that each registered voter, and non- registered voter should follow the example of the businesses of the 1990’s. Those businesses refused to change and get in front of the economic curve while they could.
We see individuals being laid off by the droves, and small businesses that striving in today’s economy with the tools from yesterday. For example the use of the following out dated tools:
Phone books, Roll a dex, typewriters, audio training cassettes, VHS training videos, data disk, hard files only, and even time clocks. There is a theory over the next 5 years, there will be 2 kinds of businesses. Businesses that are predominately using technology and the internet, and businesses that are no longer in businesses.
The theory for individuals goes like this: There will be 2 types of individuals over the next 24 months. People who are learning to use the internet, and technology and how to use generate income with them.
